South Africa delivered a commanding performance to defeat Pakistan by eight wickets in the second ODI at Faisalabad. A superb unbeaten century from Quinton de Kock guided the visitors to a comfortable chase, levelling the three-match series at 1-1.
Chasing a target of 270, South Africa reached the total with 59 balls to spare, losing only two wickets in the process. The victory sets up a decisive final match at the same venue on Saturday.
The Proteas’ chase was built on a flamboyant start and two key partnerships. Openers Lhuan-dre Pretorius (46) and Quinton de Kock put on 81 runs to set a solid foundation.
After Pretorius’s dismissal, de Kock found a perfect partner in Tony de Zorzi. The pair dismantled the Pakistani bowling attack with a 153-run stand for the second wicket. De Zorzi scored a brisk 76 from just 63 deliveries.

De Kock remained unbeaten on 123, his innings featuring eight fours and seven sixes. He anchored the innings from start to finish, seeing his team home with captain Matthew Breetzke.
Earlier, after being put in to bat, Pakistan posted a total of 269 for nine. The home team suffered an early collapse, reduced to 22 for three by left-arm pacer Nandre Burger, who finished with four wickets for 46 runs.

Salman Ali Agha top-scored for Pakistan with a gritty 69, while Mohammad Nawaz contributed a valuable 59. Despite a late onslaught, the total proved insufficient against a disciplined South African batting lineup.
The bowling attack, with the exception of a wicket each from Mohammad Wasim Jr and Faheem Ashraf, struggled to contain the flow of runs.
