On May 30, 2025, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Hidayat Buledi was killed in a militant attack targeting Sorab Bazaar in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district.
The Sorab Bazaar attack involved armed assailants, reportedly linked to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), who looted a commercial bank and set fire to government residences, including Buledi’s, where women and children were present.
Buledi, a LUMS alumnus, courageously resisted the attackers while protecting civilians, sacrificing his life in the line of duty.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind called the assault a “direct challenge to the state’s writ,” praising Buledi’s bravery as a new standard of valour. The Hidayat Buledi martyrdom has drawn widespread tributes, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemning the “cowardly attack” and vowing justice.
Officials claim the Khuzdar terrorism was orchestrated by India-backed proxies, specifically Fitna al-Hindustan and the BLA, aiming to destabilise Balochistan. These claims echo recent accusations following a May 21 school bus bombing in Khuzdar, though India denies involvement.

The BLA, designated a terrorist group by the U.S., claimed responsibility, asserting control over key buildings, a claim dismissed by police chief Hafeez Ullah.
Security forces, including Frontier Corps, police, and Levies, launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers. Recent intelligence-based operations in Loralai and Kech districts neutralised five BLA terrorists linked to prior attacks, recovering weapons and explosives, per the military’s ISPR. The India-backed proxies narrative remains contentious, with Pakistan alleging Indian support via proxies like the BLA, while India rejects these claims.
