The latest developments have emerged in the investigation of Dr Shahid Siddique’s murder, a well-known private hospital owner and local leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Police have arrested Dr Shahid Siddique’s son, Qayoom Shahid, as a key suspect in orchestrating the crime.
The Officer in Charge (OC) of Iqbal Town took Qayoom Shahid into custody based on compelling evidence linking him to the murder. It is alleged that Qayoom orchestrated the assassination with the assistance of a hired shooter.
Dr. Shahid’s younger son, Taimoor, lodged a formal complaint leading to this development. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred as Dr. Shahid was about to enter his car outside a mosque in Valencia Town, where he was approached and fatally shot by the assailant. At that moment, Qayoom was reportedly near his vehicle.

The assassination, which took place shortly after Friday prayers two days ago, involved unknown assailants who fired four shots at Dr. Shahid, causing fatal injuries. This incident has shocked the community, given Dr. Shahid’s prominence as a healthcare provider and a political figure.
