Disney has axed the UK premiere of its £212 million live-action Snow White 2025, set for March 21 release, opting for a muted press push over a glitzy Leicester Square bash.
According to a Daily Mail insider, the move, reported on March 5, aims to sidestep an anticipated “anti-woke” storm swirling around the Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot-led remake.
“Disney’s bracing for pushback and slashed the media plan to a few controlled events,” the insider revealed. The film’s caught flak since casting Zegler half-Colombian, half-Polish—as the German fairytale heroine, sparking debate over authenticity. Zegler’s digs at the 1937 classic, slamming its “dated” vibe and Prince Charming’s “stalker” role, only fanned the flames. Meanwhile, Gal Gadot’s pro-Israel stance has drawn boycott calls from pro-Palestinian activists, piling on the heat.
All Snow White press involving Rachel Zegler will be very tightly controlled and minimized! Disney is well aware their actress is insufferable, and they don't want her to make any mistakes during the press run! pic.twitter.com/2ba842rCBG

The decision to ditch the Seven Dwarfs for magical creatures in the title has split fans further, adding fuel to the Snow White 2025 controversy. Despite the UK snub, Disney’s sticking with a US premiere, spotlighting Zegler, Gadot, and Andrew Burnap (Prince Charming). The studio’s betting big—£212 million big—on a smoother stateside reception.
