In a recent altercation with terrorists in South Waziristan’s Asman Manza region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), six brave soldiers laid down their lives, as the military’s official press reported on Tuesday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) disclosed that the troops effectively confronted the terrorists, neutralizing four, with another two sustaining injuries.
The area is currently undergoing a thorough sweep to ascertain and remove any remaining terrorist presence, the ISPR further mentioned.
“Our armed forces are unwavering in their commitment to eradicate terrorism. The valour and sacrifices of our soldiers only bolster our determination,” the statement emphasized.
In a related incident the previous week, military personnel eliminated two terrorists in an intelligence-driven operation in the Khyber district of KP.
This operation, based on intel regarding terrorist activities in Khyber district’s Bara area, took place overnight between August 18 and 19.
Recent times have seen an escalation in terrorist aggressions, including numerous assaults aimed primarily at the police and other security agencies in the northwestern regions of Pakistan. This resurgence in violence, resulting in significant casualties and property damage, follows the re-establishment of the Taliban regime in neighbouring Afghanistan.
