The Sindh government has officially announced a public holiday on December 27, 2025. This marks the 18th anniversary of the death of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

The Services issued a formal notification to the General Administration and Coordination Department. It states that all offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the provincial government’s control will remain closed on that day.

The upcoming week features two public holidays. December 25 (Thursday) is already a holiday for the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, which coincides with Christmas.

Therefore, the holiday on December 27 extends the break, providing a consecutive period of observance.

Historical Significance

Benazir Bhutto, a former prime minister and prominent political leader, was assassinated on December 27, 2007. The attack occurred during a public gathering at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi.
