The Sindh Police has been reinstated SSP Malir Town, Rao Anwar.

Rao Anwar  was suspended for arresting a senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)  leader.

According to the notification, issued by the Naeem Ahmed Shaikh, PSP for Inspector General Sindh Police, Javed Akbar Riaz who was serving as SSP Malir has been transferred to Forensic  Division.

In September 2016,  Anwar was suspended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah over arrest of Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan.

The chief minister had reportedly ordered an investigation against former Malir SSP Rao Anwar on five serious charges.

Rao Anwar had blamed Izhar and his party of planning extensive attacks in the metropolis and warned that his suspension would not only hamper investigation in the cases against MQM leaders but will also have its other “side effects”.

Later, he was reinstated on November 19, 2016, however his posting was not made then. Anwar was also cleared of all the charges by a probing team last month.
