Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain strongly condemned the ongoing petrol crisis in the country and attributed it to the ‘serious incompetency’ of the government.
In a statement issued from the MQM’s London Secretariat, he appealed to the higher judiciary and the Pakistan Army to play a role to resolve the crisis, adding, “Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif alone cannot do anything in this connection. Instead, people hailing from all walks of life should concertedly steer the country out of this critical situation.”
The Muttahida chief asserted, “Karachi is a financial hub of the country and to save Karachi means to save Pakistan. The Sindh government has totally failed to provide security and protection to the people.”
Condemning the incidents of targeted-killings in Karachi, he said the blood of innocent Karachiites is being spilled, adding the Sindh government led by PPP did nothing for rural areas of the province.
Reiterating his stance for the imposition of martial law in the country, he pointed out, “Prime Minister should request the President to impose martial law in Sindh to end terrorism and targeted-killings, especially in Karachi.”
