The Sindh Jumma-tul-Wida public holiday has been announced for the last Friday of Ramadan, according to a video statement by Sindh Minister Nasir Hussain Shah. The decision is meant to help citizens participate in religious prayers and gatherings on the day.
Shah said the move was taken to facilitate public participation in observances connected to Jumma-tul-Wida. As a result, the announcement quickly drew attention because it came alongside other administrative and religious decisions from the Sindh government.
He also said a major road in Karachi will be named after Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. In addition, he addressed plans for upcoming religious processions in the city.
According to Shah, no rallies will be allowed on Shahrah-e-Faisal in line with court orders. He urged Shia organisations to hold their traditional processions on their usual routes instead.
At the same time, the Sindh government has introduced a four-day workweek for public offices. Under the new arrangement, offices will work from Monday to Thursday, while Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will remain official holidays.

Officials say the shorter workweek is intended to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency. The government has also decided to cut fuel use for official vehicles by 50 per cent as part of wider cost-saving steps.
These measures show that the province is trying to balance religious observance, administrative changes, and budget discipline. Together, they reflect a broader push to manage public affairs while maintaining essential services.
