The Sindh Government dismissed Farhat Ali Junejo from his role as Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, instructing him to report to the Department of Services.
Junejo, a Grade 21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, has made significant allegations in a letter addressed to the Minister for Anti-Corruption, Mohammad Bakhsh Mehr. In his letter, Junejo claims he was offered a bribe, which he subsequently returned.
Furthermore, Junejo accuses a private individual, allegedly working with the Director of Anti-Corruption, of orchestrating a corruption scheme within the department. He asserts that the Anti-Corruption Department extorts bribes totalling 6 to 7 crore PKR monthly from various departments. According to Junejo, predetermined sums are allocated to the Deputy Director and Circle Officer as part of this scheme.
Sources indicate that Junejo implicated an individual who is a close associate of Provincial Minister Mohammad Bakhsh Mehr. These allegations have stirred significant controversy and are likely to prompt further investigation into the operations of the Anti-Corruption Department.
