Sindh’s Minister for Education, Jam Mehtab, has disclosed that approximately 22,000 unauthorized appointments were made in the provincial education department.
In a recent statement, the Minister revealed that certain department officials facilitated these appointments.
The Education Minister highlighted a critical oversight, noting that the department lacks the requisite vacancies to justify such a large influx of hires. Furthermore, he raised concerns about the qualifications of the educators hired, particularly those expected to teach Sindhi and Arabic. He stated that many are unfamiliar with the basic alphabets of the languages they were recruited to teach.
Despite acknowledging the irregularities and their potential impact on the educational system, Minister Mehtab did not propose any solutions to rectify the situation or address the bloated staffing levels. This lack of a proposed resolution has left stakeholders concerned about the future implications for the education sector in Sindh.
