In an unprecedented move, the Sindh education department has halted the payment of salaries to more than 2,000 ghost teachers throughout the state.
According to available information, the Sindh education department sent a letter to the provincial accountant general to discontinue paying 2,019 ghost teachers.
In response to the education department’s letter, the Attorney General of Sindh has frozen the wages of the phantom instructors.
The Sindh education secretary, Akbar Laghari, stated that teachers who receive their pay at home will be fired.
The salaries of 144 ghost teachers from Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Qambar, Jacobabad, Dadu, and Benazirabad have been suspended.
In addition, the salaries of 128 ghost teachers in Shikarpur, 89 ghost teachers in Naushero Feroze, 155 ghost teachers in Larkana, and 28 ghost instructors in Sanghar have been seized.
