The Sindh government has cancelled the cultural musical segment of an official program organised in honour of the Commonwealth Parliamentarians. The decision was announced as a gesture of solidarity with the families affected by the recent blast in Islamabad.
Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the move reflects respect for the martyrs and their families during a time of national grief.
Sharjeel Memon explained that the cancellation was a conscious and respectful choice. He said honouring the sentiments of the families of those who lost their lives remains the government’s top priority.
The provincial government decided that holding entertainment activities would be inappropriate given the tragic circumstances.
While the cultural segment has been cancelled, the main program honouring the Commonwealth Parliamentarians will still take place. However, the nature of the event has been adjusted to reflect simplicity and restraint.
The dinner for the guests will be served in a modest, respectful manner, without music or entertainment.
Sharjeel Memon stated that respecting public sentiment is central to the Sindh government’s approach. He added that the revised format of the event aligns with principles of dignity and empathy. Officials believe that such gestures strengthen national unity during times of tragedy.
