The budget for the financial year 2014-15 was passed on Wednesday by the Sindh Assembly. The total outlay of the Sindh budget was Rs686 billion.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah as previously announced that the provincial development outlay would be slashed from Rs185 billion in the outgoing fiscal year to Rs168 billion for the upcoming year.
The budget deficit has been estimated at Rs14 billion.
Seven sectors have been prioritized in the new Sindh budget. These include service delivery across all sectors, peace and security through investment in law and order, education and youth development, improved heath care for people of Sindh, energy generation, building a robust infrastructure and developing agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
