Heavy snowfall has brought traffic to a complete halt on the Silk Route in Battagram, leaving dozens of vehicles stranded and disrupting daily life across the district.
District authorities suspended traffic on the Silk Route stretch between Neeli Shang and Sharkol in Chattar Plain. Officials also banned the entry of heavy vehicles to prevent further accidents on icy roads.
Several vehicles skidded on slippery roads, but officials confirmed there were no casualties. The Deputy Commissioner of Battagram said emergency teams remain on alert amid ongoing snowfall.
Authorities paused road-clearing operations due to persistent snowfall, which made it unsafe to deploy machinery. Officials also reported the closure of multiple link roads in the upper parts of the district.
In Allai Tehsil, key routes remain blocked, including the Batela–Bojri Road and the Rashang–Gangwal Road, cutting off access to several communities.
Power outages have added to residents’ difficulties. Electricity supply to Battagram city has remained suspended for nearly 48 hours, affecting households and businesses.
Local authorities urged commuters to postpone non-essential travel until weather conditions improve and clearance work resumes.
Meanwhile, snowfall has also prompted preventive measures elsewhere in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A day earlier, local authorities temporarily barred tourists from Murree after heavy snowfall.
