Shohei Ohtani delivered a spectacular performance at Tuesday’s All-Star Game, hitting his first All-Star Game home run. The Los Angeles Dodgers star, leading the National League in home runs, smashed a three-run homer in the third inning against Boston Red Sox’s Tanner Houck.
Ohtani launched the 2-0 splitter 400 feet into the right-field stands, securing a 3-0 lead for the National League. This notable blast was the first All-Star Game home run by a Dodgers player since Mike Piazza in 1996.
Ohtani has maintained a stellar season despite skipping the Home Run Derby to safeguard his elbow. He boasts a .316 average with 29 home runs and 69 RBIs over 94 games. Although he is not pitching this season due to Tommy John surgery, his batting achievements keep him in the running for the NL MVP.
His All-Star performance highlighted his significant impact and reinforced his candidacy for further honours this season.
