In Peshawar, a distressing acid attack targeted women travelling in a rickshaw, with a motorcyclist launching the assault.
Police confirm that CCTV footage captured the incident on Abdera Road, showing two masked motorcyclists trailing the rickshaw. As they reached their destination, the attacker sitting behind hurled acid at the passengers, and then the assailants swiftly fled the scene.
The primary victim has complained to her ex-husband, Fazal-ur-Rehman, accusing him of orchestrating the attack. According to the FIR, the acid was thrown at four individuals, including a 28-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl. The victim has alleged that her ex-husband, who had previously threatened her life, was directly involved in the attack.
Further reports from the police indicate that the woman, accompanied by her sister, was attacked by two motorcyclists who abruptly intercepted their rickshaw, committed the attack, and escaped. Law enforcement has since retrieved the assailant’s motorcycle along with other vital evidence from the crime scene, and efforts to identify and capture the suspect via CCTV are ongoing.
The police also noted that the injured woman had previously been divorced by her first husband, who has since remarried. SP Cantt Division Waqas Rafique expressed confidence in apprehending the suspect soon, hoping to ensure justice.
