Surprisingly, the teaser for “Rawalpindi Express – A Shoaib Akhtar Biopic” has been released amidst an ongoing legal dispute between Shoaib Akhtar, the film’s subject, and its producers. Mirza Gohar Rasheed has replaced Umair Jaswal as the protagonist.
The teaser, presented rapidly, features Rasheed portraying the life and challenges Akhtar faces. The narrative hints at the cricketer’s struggles during his early years, various confrontations, and his ultimate rise to fame. However, the intense background score suggests that the film might dramatize Akhtar’s life more than expected.
Parts of the teaser evoke memories of Ranbir Kapoor’s “Sanju”, raising questions about the film’s authenticity. It’s highlighted that the movie was shot across 47 locations in 68 days and featured a star-studded cast with Rasheed in the lead role.
Interestingly, Akhtar recently declared that he secured a stay order against the film’s makers, barring them from filming and releasing the movie pending the lawsuit’s outcome. He emphasised this in a social media post, cautioning all involved about potential legal and reputational risks. An accompanying legal notice further clarified that any production or release activity regarding the biopic is prohibited until the legal case is resolved.
