Akhtar said appointing an unqualified person as PCB chairman leads to poor outcomes. He claimed that someone without a deep knowledge of cricket and who is focused mainly on politics cannot effectively manage the sport.
“When you appoint an unqualified person as PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, this is exactly what happens,” Akhtar said, adding that there appears to be no real competition between Pakistan and its rivals.

The former “Rawalpindi Express” also addressed the performances of senior players. He pointed to Babar Azam’s extended tenure, noting that despite several years at the top level, he has produced no memorable performances against India in ICC tournaments.
Akhtar further argued that the team seems overly dependent on Shaheen Afridi and has limited bench strength to support the squad. According to him, little has changed over the past six or seven years.

“With this kind of management in Pakistan cricket, people shouldn’t talk about winning trophies,” he remarked. He emphasised that unless the right individuals are placed in key positions, expectations of major titles may remain unrealistic.
