Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that he will serve a legal notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry for accusing him of “horse trading.”
In response to the claims made by Chaudhry, Memon called them “baseless” and demanded that the PTI leader substantiate the charges. Memon further warned that if Chaudhry failed to do so, he would initiate a case against him in Punjab.
Fawad Chaudhry had previously stated that he would file a corruption case against two Sindh ministers, Sharjeel Inam Memon and Nasir Hussain Shah, in Punjab. He alleged that in the recent vote of no confidence filed against Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Sindh’s provincial ministers offered money to two PTI female MPAs. Chaudhry declared that a reference for disqualification would be filed against Memon and Shah for attempting to purchase MPAs.
Chaudhry also criticized Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah for resisting the court-ordered organization of Islamabad local government (LG) elections. Responding to Sanaullah’s statement, Chaudhry stated that the interior minister should resign if he cannot provide security for the LG elections in Islamabad. He further asserted that every time Sanaullah had organized elections, he suffered a humiliating loss.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) also came under criticism from Chaudhry, who claimed it is a subordinate institution of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, which is currently in power. The PTI leader’s accusations and criticism of various individuals and institutions have been met with legal threats and demands for proof of the claims.
