Chitral triumphed over Gilgit 9–7 in the final of the Shandur Polo Festival, held at the world’s highest polo ground, captivating thousands of spectators.
The Shandur Polo Festival 2025 took place from June 20 to 22 at Shandur Pass, which stands at an elevation of 3,700 meters. The event concluded with Chitral’s ‘A’ team defeating Gilgit’s ‘A’ team with a score of 9–7. Although Gilgit improved their performance, Chitral’s strong defence secured their eighth consecutive title. The match, held at the “Roof of the World,” attracted thousands of local and international tourists.
Shandur Polo Festival’s polo title was won by Chitral once again. The Shandur Polo Festival 2025 was held at the world’s highest polo ground (Shandur Pass, 12,500 feet), organized by the KP Government and the district administration of Chitral.

Organised by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan governments, the Pakistan Army, and the Frontier Corps (North), the festival showcased vibrant cultural displays. The closing ceremony, attended by Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Umar Ahmad Bukhari, featured a parachute display by the Pakistan Army SSG ‘Shahbaz’ and a paragliding demonstration by the Army School of Physical Training in Kakul.

A traditional Kalasha dance captivated the audience, highlighting the region’s heritage. During the event, Bukhari presented awards and praised the organisers and security forces for their efforts.
The three-day event, known for its freestyle polo, folk music, and camping, attracted global visitors, reinforcing its cultural and tourism value. The festival promotes unity between Chitral and Gilgit.
