Shakira has been hospitalized due to an abdominal issue, causing her to postpone her concert in Peru, part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour.
The 48-year-old Colombian singer took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday to share the news with her fans, revealing she had been admitted to the emergency room overnight. Her doctors have advised against performing due to her current health condition.
“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” Shakira wrote. “The doctors say I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.”
The Grammy-winning artist expressed her disappointment, as she had been excited to perform for her Peruvian fans. However, she remains hopeful for a swift recovery. “I am very sad about this. My team and promoters are already working on rescheduling the concert,” she added.
Shakira kicked off her tour in Rio de Janeiro on February 11 and was scheduled to perform in Peru next. She has five upcoming shows in Colombia from February 20 to 27, including three in her hometown of Barranquilla, followed by a performance in Mexico on March 12.
As fans eagerly await the new concert date, Shakira remains optimistic about returning to the stage soon.
