The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reappointed Shahid Aslam as the batting coach for the national white-ball squads.
Shahid, a qualified coach, has previously served the Pakistan team in various roles, including assistant coach, fielding coach, and assistant manager. He has been coaching at the High-Performance Centre in Lahore for the past two years.
Former Test captain Mohammad Yousuf previously held the batting coach position and later became a national selector. However, Yousuf resigned from both roles and worked at the HPC until his recent resignation, which the Board has declined to accept.
Shahid’s return as batting coach comes from Aaqib Javed, the interim white-ball coach.
On Monday, the PCB named Aaqib the head white-ball coach until the ICC Champions Trophy early next year, following Australian Jason Gillespie’s decision to decline the all-format coach position.
Aaqib, who also serves as a senior national selector, has departed to join the players in Zimbabwe for a series of three ODIs and three T20 Internationals before heading to South Africa for additional white-ball matches.
