Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Afridi allegedly misbehaved with head coach Gary Kirsten and other support staff during the Ireland-England tour and the T20 World Cup 2024.
Sources told Geo News that although Shaheen’s behaviour toward coaches and management was inappropriate during recent tours, the team managers failed to address his misconduct. The report added that the managers were responsible for maintaining discipline, prompting an investigation into why no action was taken against Shaheen. It is claimed that despite Shaheen’s poor conduct towards Kirsten and Azhar Mahmood, the accompanying managers did not enforce any measures.
Furthermore, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is examining other team members following coaches’ complaints regarding lobbying and lack of seriousness in recent competitions.
The PCB has also dismissed former Test players Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the selection committee following their disappointing performances at the last T20 World Cup. The board confirmed that updates on the committee’s structure will be provided soon.
