Death row convict Shafqat Hussain was hanged on early Tuesday in Karachi Central Jail.
Earlier, the Sindh government had forwarded a request to the federal government seeking to halt Shafqat’s execution. The request was sent by the Sindh Home Department to the Ministry of Interior seeking a probe into this case by the Supreme Court.
Shafqat’s execution had earlier been halted four times owing to controversy surrounding his age.
Finally, on July 7, for the 5th time an anti-terrorism court (ATC) once again issued death warrants for the murder convict for August 4.
