Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has taken a step toward resolving the crisis with Serene Air. The regulator has reinstated the airline’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
This decision will allow Serene Air to import necessary aircraft engines and spare parts. Officials described the move as giving the airline “another chance” to stabilise its business. Despite the reinstatement of the certificate, all flight operations remain suspended. The airline cannot resume flights until it fully meets all pending regulatory requirements.
The directive to restore the AOC was issued by the Director of Flight Standards. This action was taken on the instructions of the CAA’s Director General.

The CAA initially suspended Serene Air’s flight operations on October 23, 2025. The regulator cited serious non-compliance with aviation safety regulations. The authority stated the airline failed to maintain required operational standards. It also noted that Serene Air had no airworthy aircraft available for service.
At the time, the CAA also ordered the airline to return its operating certificate. The airline’s management explained that an aircraft was grounded in Saudi Arabia after a bird strike.
They had requested permission to operate special flights to repatriate stranded passengers. The suspension affected several domestic and international routes
