Pakistan’s major international airports have launched a new digital initiative. Self-boarding card machines are now operational at airports in Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi.
This system allows international passengers to automatically obtain their boarding passes. The technology links directly with a new e-application for immigration clearance.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration wing manages the new process. The e-app integrates fully with the national Integrated Border Management System (IBMS).
Passengers must complete a digital profile before their flight. This profile includes detailed travel information. They must provide their visa details, employment data, and the purpose of their trip. All airlines operating from Pakistan are also connected to the application.

This new process aims to eliminate long waiting times. Previously, passengers endured long lines at both the boarding pass and immigration counters. Now, travellers can complete all requirements before reaching the airport. Once their information is verified, they can proceed directly to the departure lounge.
The system prints their boarding card instantly. It also clears their immigration formalities within minutes. FIA officials confirm the application has robust security features. Passengers must upload all required documents and answer security questions for final approval.
