Samuel L. Jackson has expressed appreciation for Marvel’s decision to avoid portraying his character, the spy Nick Fury, as an all-knowing, intimidating figure in ‘Secret Invasion.’
In a conversation with Reuters, Jackson shed light on his character, the one-eyed protagonist of the TV action series Secret Invasion,’ remarking, “He’s exposed to danger and still navigating through it.”
The ‘Secret Invasion series, which features six episodes produced by Marvel Studios, will be available on Disney+. It delves into the storyline of Nick Fury and his allies striving to thwart international terrorist plots and potential Earth invasion by the shapeshifting reptilian humanoids, the Skrulls.
The star-studded cast comprises Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Nick Fury’s Skrull associate, Emilia Clarke as G’iah, Talos’ daughter, and Olivia Colman as agent Sonya Falsworth.
Though directed by Ali Selim, the series is grounded in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and charts a unique course divergent from previous Marvel productions.
Emilia Clarke highlighted the human-centric aspect of the series: “Superheroes aren’t the solution to the issues we’re addressing here. Hence, it’s inherently human.”
She added, “Dialogues are happening in confined spaces, an unusual scene in the MCU. Yet, they continually strive to disrupt the norm and create a novel experience.”
