Sebastian Stan is poised to attract a new DC fanbase after reports claimed he has been cast as Harvey Dent in The Batman: Part II.
The report gained traction after Discussing Film, a verified X account, stated that Stan will portray Gotham’s district attorney. While the studio has not confirmed the casting, the claim has already triggered a heated online debate.
Harvey Dent has been portrayed by several actors across film and television, including Aaron Eckhart, Tommy Lee Jones, Misha Collins, and Harry Lawtey. Eckhart’s performance in The Dark Knight remains a touchstone for many fans.
Since the report surfaced, reactions have been sharply divided. Supporters argue that the actor playing the Thunderbolts has the intensity and screen presence needed for the role. Fans praised his expressive eyes and ability to convey emotion with restraint, suggesting director Matt Reeves could unlock a compelling take on Dent.
Others remain sceptical. Some critics say it may be difficult to separate Stan from his long-running Marvel role as the Winter Soldier. Several comments dismissed the casting outright, with several fans insisting that Eckhart’s portrayal set a standard that should not be replaced.
The sequel will again be led by Robert Pattinson as Batman. Additional casting remains unconfirmed, though reports have suggested major names could appear in key roles. Separate speculation has also pointed to Barry Keoghan returning as the Joker, following his brief appearance in the first film.
The Batman: Part II is scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. Until official announcements arrive, Stan’s reported casting continues to dominate discussion, underlining the high expectations surrounding DC’s next chapter in Gotham.
