Warner Bros. has confirmed that ‘Batman: Part II’ will arrive in cinemas on October 1, 2027. This continues Matt Reeves’ darker vision of Gotham City. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as the Caped Crusader. Production is already generating strong buzz among fans.
Industry insider Jeff Sneider reports that Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the cast. This marks a potential high-profile move from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to DC.
While the studio has not confirmed casting details, Johansson’s involvement has sparked widespread speculation about the character she may portray.
According to Sneider, Johansson could play Gilda Gold (Gilda Dent), the wife of Gotham District Attorney Harvey Dent. In DC Comics, Gilda is closely tied to Harvey’s tragic transformation into Two-Face. Her role has often remained in the background.
However, Gilda Dent takes on greater importance in the acclaimed comic series ‘Batman: The Long Halloween’. In this series, she emerges as the Holiday killer. Director Matt Reeves has previously cited this storyline as a major influence on The Batman (2022). This makes the character a strong fit for the sequel’s narrative.

Reeves has repeatedly expressed his admiration for The Long Halloween. Elements of the comic already shaped the tone and mystery of the first film. As a result, introducing Gilda Dent could deepen the sequel’s psychological and emotional layers.
If cast, Johansson would bring significant dramatic weight to the role. This is especially true in a story centred on moral decay and identity.
Sneider also reported that Emma Stone was initially offered a role in Batman: Part II but declined. That decision reportedly opened the door for Johansson. She would be returning to the superhero genre after her final MCU appearance in ‘Black Widow’.
Warner Bros. has yet to make an official announcement. Johansson’s possible casting would add star power to an already highly anticipated sequel. Fans now await confirmation as Batman: Part II continues to take shape ahead of its 2027 release.
