The Supreme Court resumed the hearing of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law amendments case on Thursday, with former premier Imran Khan attending via video link.
A five-judge bench, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and including Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Athar Minallah, and Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, is hearing the federal government’s intra-court appeal.
The federal government has challenged the Supreme Court’s majority verdict from September last year, which declared amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) 2002 illegal. Tuesday’s proceedings were telecast live on the court’s website.
At the start of the hearing, Justice Minallah suggested broadcasting it as had been done previously. However, Chief Justice Isa stated that the case was “technical” and not public interest.
“The last hearing was not broadcast live, and we will not broadcast today,” added Justice Isa.
Following these remarks, the bench took a recess to deliberate on whether the hearing should be broadcast live.
