The Supreme Court on Wednesday suspended election tribunal’s decision and restored membership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly member Sardar Ikramullah Gandapur.
Gandapur had won KP Assembly seat through by-election in PK-67 constituency of Dera Ismail Khan. The seat was vacated after the death of his brother Israrulah Gandapur in a suicide attack.
The election tribunal had disqualified Gandapur on charges of holding a fake degree. His election was challenged by rival candidate Fatehullah Miankhel.
While hearing Gandapur’s plea today, the apex court suspended election tribunal’s decision and restored his membership.
