Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman’s (MBS) anticipated visit to Pakistan has been postponed.
Previously, sources suggested that the Crown Prince MBS would travel to Islamabad on May 19 for a two-day visit, although no official schedule was released.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch stated on Friday that details of the visit would be disclosed once the schedule between Islamabad and Riyadh is finalized. Baloch expressed confidence that the visit would occur soon. It emphasized its significance, noting the Pakistani people’s anticipation of the leader’s arrival from the brotherly nation.
This development follows heightened diplomatic and trade interactions between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, particularly after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Kingdom in March. These engagements have set the stage for the Crown Prince’s visit, which was initially expected between May 10 and 15.
The delay of this high-profile visit, which marks the first since February 2019, holds considerable significance for Pakistan. The country is looking forward to substantial Saudi investments in various sectors. During his last visit under the administration of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, commitments were made that are expected to bring about $5 billion in Saudi investments to Pakistan soon.
