Unidentified individuals abducted renowned journalist Matiullah Jan from the parking lot of PIMS Hospital in Islamabad at approximately 11 PM.
At the time of the abduction of Matiullah Jan, he was accompanied by journalist Saqib Bashir, who was later released by the kidnappers in the I-9 sector.
Saqib Bashir reported that both were blindfolded and forcibly taken in a van-like vehicle. He noted that they had been at PIMS Hospital from early Wednesday morning to verify data related to injuries and fatalities. Around 11:30 PM, as they were departing, unknown assailants abducted them from the hospital’s parking area.

They were removed from the vehicle shortly after being confined in a room. At about 1:30 AM, the captors declared they had no issue with them and subsequently released them in the I-9 sector.

Bashir further mentioned that their faces remained covered throughout the ordeal, and no interrogations occurred. After reaching his home around 3:15 AM, Bashir immediately contacted Matiullah Jan’s family to inform them of the incident.

In a related development, journalist Asad Toor disclosed that Matiullah Jan had been taken to a police station where a narcotics charge was being filed against him.
