Recently, rumours suggested Indian tennis icon Sania Mirza and pace bowler Mohammed Shami were planning to marry.
Sania Mirza, renowned as India’s greatest women’s tennis player, and Mohammed Shami, celebrated for his pivotal role in the 2023 ODI World Cup, are prominent figures in their respective sports. Speculation gained momentum following Sania’s divorce from Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik earlier this year and Shami’s separation from his wife, Hasin Jahan.
However, Sania’s father, Imran Mirza, has dismissed these marriage rumours. In a statement to NDTV, he clarified, “This is all rubbish. She has not even met him.”
In her personal life, Sania has embarked on a spiritual journey, recently performing Hajj, about five months after announcing her split from Malik. Retired from professional tennis, she served as a pundit at the French Open 2024 and has been actively sharing her transformative experiences on social media.
On social media, Sania expressed her intentions for the pilgrimage: “As I prepare for this transformative experience, I humbly ask for your forgiveness for any wrongdoings and shortcomings.” She hopes for spiritual guidance and acceptance of her prayers, stating, “I am deeply fortunate and feel immensely grateful. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this journey of a lifetime. I hope to return as a better human with a humble heart and stronger Imaan.”
Sania also recently appeared on a popular comedy show where she discussed her illustrious career, notably her partnership with Martina Hingis. Reflecting on their success, she shared, “When you hit a streak, athletes like to call it being ‘In the zone’… Honestly, that’s the best way I can describe what Martina and I had for those six months.”
