Samiya Hijab, a well-known social media influencer from Islamabad, recently escaped an attempted kidnapping near her home. Islamabad police quickly caught the suspect, Hassan Zahid from Lahore, within 24 hours.
On August 31, 2025, Samiya faced a frightening situation. Hassan Zahid had been harassing her for months with threats and demands to marry her. On that day, with her mother sick and her brother away, Zahid came to her house. He grabbed her phone and tried to force her into his car.
Samiya said, “My mother was ill, my brother wasn’t home. When I stepped outside, he snatched my phone, sat in his car, and forced me in too.” She managed to record part of the event. Security camera videos also provided important proof. A medical exam later revealed physical injuries, highlighting the seriousness of the attack.
Samiya compared her experience to the tragic murder of her friend, 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf. Sana’s attacker killed her in Islamabad in June 2025 after she rejected a marriage proposal. Samiya said, “I do not want to become Sana.” This shows the danger female influencers face in Pakistan, where online popularity can bring real threats.

After Samiya reported the case, Islamabad police acted fast and registered a First Information Report (FIR) at Shalimar Police Station for charges including assault, kidnapping, robbery, defamation, and related crimes. Police arrested Zahid within 24 hours.
She said, “He thought he could kidnap me, force me to marry him, and nothing would happen. That animal was arrested within 24 hours.” To keep her safe, police assigned officers to stand guard outside her home. This happened after she reported more death threats from Zahid, who wanted her to withdraw the FIR.
