On June 1, 2025, Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Agha dismissed social media rumours of a fallout with teammate Babar Azam during a press conference following a 3-0 series whitewash against Bangladesh at Gaddafi Stadium.

The Salman Ali Agha Babar Azam controversy, sparked by claims of an Instagram unfollow, was debunked as Agha clarified their long-standing friendship.

Addressing the speculation, Agha stated, “I never followed Babar Azam on Instagram, so there’s no question of unfollowing him.” He emphasised their bond, which dates back to 2008, well before social media became prominent. Agha added, “We both laugh at such rumours.” His clarification came after several social media posts stirred rumours about Babar Azam. One user commented, “Glad Salman shut this down!” while others questioned where the rumours originated.

“I’ve never followed Babar Azam on instagram, he is my friend since school days (2008), i spoke to him just before this match and we just laugh about these things”

Pakistan secured the series with a convincing seven-wicket victory in the third T20I, successfully chasing down 197 runs in just 17.1 overs, thanks to Mohammad Haris’s outstanding unbeaten century. The team’s T20 sweep highlighted their skill, completing a 3-0 triumph at Gaddafi Stadium. Agha’s leadership and the team’s unity were on full display, effectively countering any rumours of internal conflicts.

The Mohammad Haris century and Agha’s rebuttal highlight Pakistan’s focus amid off-field distractions. Babar Azam, a key player, has faced scrutiny over his T20 role, but Agha’s comments reaffirm their camaraderie.

The Salman Ali Agha Babar Azam clarification quashes divisive rumours, reinforcing team unity after a stellar Pakistan T20 sweep. As Pakistan cricket navigates social media speculation, Agha’s leadership and the series triumph boost morale, setting the stage for future challenges in international cricket.
