Sahibzada Farhan ICC Player of the Month honours were awarded after the Pakistan opener delivered a record-breaking performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka.
Farhan dominated the tournament, finishing as the leading run-scorer and setting multiple records.
Farhan scored 383 runs in seven matches, including six innings, at an impressive average of 76.60. He also maintained a striking rate of 160.25. During the tournament, he registered two centuries and two half-centuries, showcasing consistent form.
The right-handed opener broke Virat Kohli’s long-standing record for the most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition. He also became the first batter to score two centuries in one global tournament of the format, reaching three figures against Namibia and Sri Lanka.
Farhan described the recognition as a special moment in his career. He said performing on the World Cup stage made the award even more meaningful. He also credited his teammates for their support and expressed determination to maintain his form in the upcoming matches.
Following his outstanding performance, Farhan climbed to second place in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings. His century against Sri Lanka played a key role in this rise.
This marks his first ICC Player of the Month award and makes him the first Pakistani male cricketer to win it since Haris Rauf in November 2024. Farhan also contributed to a record 176-run partnership with Fakhar Zaman, the highest for any wicket in T20 Internationals.
Despite a narrow five-run win over Sri Lanka, Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals due to a worse net run rate. His consistent performances earned him a place in the ICC Team of the Tournament. Across seven matches, he recorded scores of 47, 73, 0, 100, did not bat, 63, and 100*.
The campaign stands out as one of the most remarkable individual performances in T20 World Cup history.
