Renowned actor Ryan Gosling, acclaimed for his Golden Globe victory and role in “Barbie” alongside Margot Robbie, is reportedly negotiating with Marvel Studios to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Insider Daniel Richman revealed that Gosling met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to discuss possible roles in the superhero franchise.
Gosling is no stranger to MCU rumours, having previously been in the running for Doctor Strange, a role eventually filled by Benedict Cumberbatch. Fans have been vocal about wanting to see Gosling in a superhero role, with many suggesting the character Nova as a perfect match for his talents.
Speculation Around Gosling’s Potential Role as Nova
While specifics of Gosling’s potential MCU character are still under wraps, there’s heightened speculation, particularly with rumours about a Nova project in the works. Nova, or Richard Rider from Marvel Comics, is a cosmic superhero and a key member of the Nova Corps. Marvel Studios officially confirmed the Nova project in March 2022, but updates on its progress have been limited, leading to speculation about its status.
Despite the project’s uncertainties, fan excitement remains high, with some even creating posters imagining Gosling as Nova. In addition to Gosling, other actors like Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Glen Powell have been fan favourites for the role. The introduction of Nova in the MCU is anticipated to unveil significant events, including Thanos’ attack on Xandar.
Marvel Studios is adopting a cautious approach to its projects, including potentially shifting Nova from a feature film to a Disney+ series. This change has only increased anticipation for Gosling’s potential involvement in the MCU. Whether he will take up a superhero role remains uncertain. Still, the prospect continues to excite fans who are eager to see who will continue the Guardians of the Galaxy legacy.
