Cristiano Ronaldo visibly expressed frustration after Al Nassr lost to Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup on Saturday.
Despite scoring a goal just before halftime, Ronaldo’s efforts were overshadowed as Al Hilal staged a remarkable comeback, scoring four goals within 17 minutes. This defeat continues Ronaldo’s wait for a domestic trophy in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo’s reaction to the fourth Al-Hilal goal included throwing his arms up and making gestures that suggested his team was underperforming. These actions quickly went viral on social media, stirring considerable controversy.
Al Hilal dominated the second half, starting with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scoring after a seamless pass exchange with Aleksandar Mitrovic. Shortly after, Mitrovic headed in a precise cross from Ruben Neves, stunning the Al Nassr goalkeeper. Mitrovic then added another goal with a powerful shot from a pinpoint pass by Malcolm. The final blow came when Malcolm seized on a goalkeeper error to slot in the fourth goal in the 72nd minute.
Reflecting on the match, Mitrovic remarked, “We showed how good we are in the second half. We had some problems initially, then made adjustments. Staying calm helped us secure the trophy early in the season.”
