The Riq Woolen Eagles contract gives Philadelphia a high-upside cornerback on a one-year deal worth up to $15 million. Multiple reports say the former Seattle Seahawks defensive back is heading to the Eagles after four NFL seasons in Seattle.
Woolen enters Philadelphia with a strong profile built on size, speed, and playmaking ability. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and became widely known after running a 4.26-second 40-yard dash at the 2022 NFL Combine.
He made an immediate impact with the Seahawks as a rookie, recording six interceptions and earning Pro Bowl recognition. Over four seasons, he totalled 12 interceptions and 53 passes defended, which helped establish him as one of the more productive young cornerbacks from his draft class.
The move also gives the Eagles another experienced outside cornerback. Recent coverage says Philadelphia targeted Woolen after he became available in free agency, viewing him as a valuable addition to a defense that already features young talent in the secondary.
At the same time, Woolen’s recent career has included some inconsistency. Reports on his exit from Seattle noted penalty issues, brief benchings, and a reduced starting role in 2025, when he played 16 games but started seven.

Even so, the contract reflects belief in his upside. For Philadelphia, the signing is a relatively short-term bet on a cornerback who has already shown he can make impact plays and still has room to regain top form.
