The Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in Karachi has been renovated through a joint effort by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and the Pakistan Army, hosting the 68th DHA National Hockey Championship 2024.
This renovated stadium showcased its value by accommodating fourteen teams during the championship. It led to an exhilarating final where Pakistan Customs narrowly defeated Mari Petroleum with a score of 10-9 to claim the title.
Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Corps Commander Karachi, was the chief guest at the final, presenting awards. He highlighted hockey’s role as Pakistan’s national sport and urged all stakeholders to support its advancement.
The semi-finals saw fierce contests, with Pakistan Customs going up against National Bank and Mari Petroleum facing the Air Force. The final match attracted a large audience, underscoring hockey’s popularity in Karachi.
The stadium’s overhaul significantly enhances Pakistan’s hockey facilities, equipping it to host national and international events.
