Renowned comedian Umer Sharif is celebrated on his 59th birthday anniversary.
Sharif showcased his comedic talent for decades, captivating audiences with his dynamic performances. His theatrical career began at 14 when he first performed on stage, earning accolades and prizes including Rs5,000, a 70cc motorcycle, and a year’s supply of petrol.
Known for his ability to perform impromptu in theatres without a script, Sharif gained fame in 1980 via audio cassettes. By the 1990s, he earned the title of “King of Comedy” in South Asia.
Sharif also achieved significant fame with his performance in Bakra Qiston Pay, which drew fans from Pakistan and India. Beyond comedy, he demonstrated versatility as a film director, composer, writer, and producer.
Sharif’s death in Germany in 2021 left fans and the entertainment industry deeply saddened.
