Members of the National Assembly of Pakistan who were reinstated on reserved seats after more than 13 months will receive over a year’s pending salaries, sources confirmed.
The Ministry of Law has formally approved the payment of salary arrears to the reinstated lawmakers. The National Assembly Secretariat had sought legal guidance from both the law ministry and the Election Commission of Pakistan before proceeding.
According to sources, the Election Commission left the final decision on salary payments to the National Assembly.
Following legal clearance, the National Assembly Secretariat has begun processing payments. Each of the 19 reinstated MNAs is expected to receive more than Rs6 million in salary arrears.

Officials said the total payout will exceed Rs110 million. Sources added that the arrears are likely to be disbursed in January, subject to final approval from the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The lawmakers were initially suspended from their reserved seats after a ruling by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on May 13, 2024. The court later restored their membership on July 2, 2025, paving the way for the release of withheld salaries.
The law ministry stated that the first notification issued after the Supreme Court verdict carries legal effect, allowing the payments to proceed.
