Fame often comes at a steep price, one that few can afford. Reports confirmed rapper Julio Foolio was killed in Tampa, Florida.
Foolio, who was known for his intense lyrics depicting the struggles of the underprivileged, Foolio’s death has shocked his community.
Foolio’s girlfriend, Mani, expressed her grief on social media, stating, “Y’all took my boyfriend from me. I hate y’all & I won’t be the only one crying,” on her now-private X account.
A shooting outside a Tampa hotel resulted in one fatality and three injuries. Authorities identified the deceased as Charles Jones, alias Julio Foolio. The injured are currently hospitalized but are not in life-threatening conditions.
Details emerged that Foolio was celebrating his birthday at a local Airbnb. The celebration moved to another location after police intervention. Later, a shooting occurred outside a Holiday Inn, where assailants opened fire on a vehicle.
Tampa Police spokesperson Joneé Lewis reported that two vehicles were targeted in the attack. This was not Foolio’s first encounter with violence. Past incidents include a 2023 ambush in Jacksonville that resulted in a severe foot injury and a lawsuit against a nurse who allegedly compromised his safety. Additional attacks targeted him in 2021 and 2020, with Foolio defending himself in one instance.
