Three men took 10-year-old A* to an empty room her near her house located at Azeem Plaza in Usmanabad area and tried to rape her. “Fortunately, she was saved from the culprits,” said ASP Shahla Qureshi .
The girl and her family recently shifted to Azeem Plaza, claimed ASP Qureshi. “After returning home from tuitions, the girl went outside to buy yogurt when the three suspects started chasing her.”
The neighbours noticed the men and asked them why they were following her. The suspects told them that the girl stole some goods from the milk shop and continued to chase her.
The suspects then brought a girl to an empty room and attempted to rape her. Upon hue and cry, the family and the neighbours reached the site and foiled the rape attempt, explained the officer. The suspects managed to escape the scene.
However, they have been identified as the residents of the same area. The police will take strict action against the culprits and will arrest them soon, claimed ASP Qureshi. “Multiple raids have been conducted at their residences but they have escaped,” she added.
The family, along with the other residents of the area, protested the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the suspects. The officer further added that the medical examination of the girl also confirmed that she was not raped. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
