A spokesman for the para military Rangers praised residents of the megapolis of Karachi for dismissing MQM’s strike call.
The spokesman in a statement said that, “the residents of Karachi had dismissed threats of those who are enemies of the city’s peace”.
He added that the Rangers and people of Karachi stood together for peace in the city.
The MQM is observing a country-wide day of mourning on today to denounce what it termed ‘extra judicial’ killing of its workers by law enforcement agencies.
Rangers in several areas of Karachi reopened petrol pumps while eight people accused of forcibly shutting down shops were also arrested by the paramilitary force which claimed they were MQM workers.
