Former Pakistan cricket Chairman Ramiz Raja expressed strong dissatisfaction with the broadcast quality of the ongoing T20I series between Pakistan and Ireland.
Criticizing the minimal camera setup and lack of a Decision Review System (DRS) and replays, Raja remarked, “It feels like a club game is being telecast.”
During a YouTube commentary, he lamented the insufficient coverage, saying, “Only two cameras are there. There’s no DRS, no replays; you don’t get an idea of the boundary rope, and you can’t enjoy a good shot being played or good balls being bowled. This is extremely unfair to the Pakistan cricket product.”
Raja urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to intervene, suggesting they should have ensured better-broadcast quality for a series that marks Pakistan’s preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024. He proposed reconsidering the broadcasting rights to enhance the coverage.
Highlighting the disparity in broadcast standards, Raja added, “I can tell you this with certainty: if India had known about this situation, they would never have allowed such coverage because your honour is in your hands. So Pakistan’s honour should also be in their hands.”
He also criticized the series’ global accessibility: “This series is not telecast in England. It’s unavailable on Sky, primarily because it is being covered like this.”
Raja concluded by emphasizing that the quality of the coverage was a disservice not just to the team but also to the nation, stating, “We are not an African country that the coverage for our games can be this poor. This is unfair to Pakistan.”
