Ramanaa, A Riveting Tamil Classic on Corruption Now on Sun NXT

The Tamil classic film Ramanaa is now available to stream on Sun NXT.

Ramanaa begins with a bold move where 15 government officials are abducted by a vigilante group led by Dr. M. Ramanaa, a professor with a troubled past. Following a personal tragedy that saw his family fall victim to shoddy construction practices by the influential contractor Bhadrinarayanan, Ramanaa decides to tackle corruption head-on. He enlists his former students, now government employees, to help him expose the corrupt officials.

The movie’s climax sees Ramanaa confront Bhadrinarayanan, turning the tables on the corrupt contractor using his merciless tactics. Although Ramanaa’s crusade for justice costs him dearly—resulting in a death sentence after he reveals his identity to save his students—he leaves a powerful message urging the public to fight against corruption.

The film features Vijayakanth as M. Ramanaa and Vijayan as Bhadrinarayanan, with Yugi Sethu playing Constable Saravanan. Ilaiyaraaja’s soundtrack, composed in collaboration with director A. R. Murugadoss, enhances the film’s dramatic intensity.

Ramanaa received critical acclaim, securing an IMDb rating of 8.2/10. It won the 2002 Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film, and A. R. Murugadoss received the award for Best Dialogue Writer.
