The first Ramadan in Pakistan is expected to begin on March 12, as the holy month draws near, less than two weeks away.
Geo News reported that meteorologist Jawad Memon notes that while the Ramadan moon will emerge on March 10, visibility to the naked eye is anticipated by March 11.
“The inaugural Taraweeh prayers are set for the evening of March 11, making the commencement of fasting on March 12 highly likely,” Memon stated.
In keeping with tradition, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, alongside regional counterparts, will meet in Islamabad to evaluate moon sighting reports and declare the moon’s appearance.
Ramadan celebrated with immense devotion, prompts millions in Pakistan and billions worldwide to fast from dawn to dusk. The fasting duration ranges from 12 to 17 hours, varying by location.
In Pakistan, Ramadan is a time for heightened charity and community service, with locals setting up food stalls for those heading home at dusk.
This period also sees a surge in business and shopping activities as people prepare for the Eid ul Fitr celebrations.
